Goat / Goat Milk Enquiries

The goats in Hay Dairies are fed with Alfalfa Hay from United States which is high in protein, minerals and is free from Genetically Modified Organism (GMO).
We also complement our goats’ diet with a special feed from Australia that is based on grains, vitamins, minerals and is free from wheat and Genetically Modified Maize (GMM).

Many customers tell us that they have derived health benefits by switching from cow’s milk to goat’s milk. Most common problems they faced include digestive disorders such as bloatedness, irritable bowel, eczema and even asthma. Nutritionally, goat’s milk is a good source of calcium and has many of the essential vitamins and minerals we need.

Research has indicated that it has much to do with the protein structure in the milks. They are called caseins and the absence of alpha-s1 casein and a higher proportion of beta-casein in goat’s milk mean that the casein profile of goat’s milk is closer to human milk than that of cow’s milk. These proteins form a softer curd in the stomach and the fat particles are also smaller, which is a great aid to digestion for many who cannot tolerate cow’s milk.

Our fresh goat milk comes in 2 different sizes (200ml and 800ml) and 2 different flavors (original and chocolate).
We are not allowed to sell raw milk as governed by Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA). At Hay Dairies, our product is pasteurized at a low temperature of 75 Degrees Celsius in 15 seconds, followed by bringing the milk down to 4 Degrees Celsius in 15 seconds thereafter. No preservatives are added during the process.
Hay Dairies goat milk is suitable for vegetarians.

We are not certified organic but we apply organic principles as much as appropriate throughout our farming operations.

Organic rules mean that our goats would need to be outside on pasture. However, goats are not grazers like cows and they do not like damp and cold conditions and unlike sheep, they have no protective lanolin in their coats. We house our goats under shelter in large barns that keep them warm and dry and provide plenty of fresh air and light. It also means that we can feed them a nutritionally balanced high fibre diet that is best for their health and provides us with good quality milk.

We do not sell goat milk yoghurt, kefir or cheese at Hay Dairies currently.

Goat milk can be frozen, but best results are achieved if the milk is frozen quickly on the same day of purchase. Do note that some nutrients may drop after freezing/de-frosting. Avoid freezing goat milk within a day or two of the ‘use by’ date printed on the bottle. Before freezing the goat milk, pour out some milk from the bottle so that there’s room for expansion to solid form. The safest way to defrost the milk is to leave it in the chiller box of the fridge, where you typically keep your cheese and other dairy products (do not place the milk at the door compartment as that area is not cold enough for milk. Once defrosted, please consume the milk within 3 days. Small flecks of white goat cream may float to the surface as the milk defrosts. The cream should stir back into the milk, especially if the milk is used warm or for making hot drinks.
Hay Dairies goat milk and animal is free from antibiotics and growth hormones as tested/approved by Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA). Our milk is also free from preservatives.
If you like to consume the milk warm, you can do so by pouring out the quantity you want and let it stand for 10-15 minutes or sitting the cup of milk in a bowl of hot water. Please remember that the rest of the milk in the bottle must be kept back in the fridge immediately. Never microwave or boil the milk as this would destroy the nutrition in the milk. The milk can also be added to milo, coffee or other beverages.
Goat’s milk is the next best thing to mother’s milk. In fact, it is a good substitute for breast feeding infants as it is easily digested and assimilated by an infant’s digestive system. However, please note that fresh goat milk does not have fortified vitamins or DHA that may be present in formula milk.
We currently do not recycle our milk bottles. However, we do advise our customers to throw the milk bottle in the plastic recycling bin if available at their housing estate area. We currently have a long-term working relationship with Sembawang Corp Recycling Division to handle recycling of all our used plastic bottles at the farm.
If you purchase a minimum of five bottles of our 200ml goat milk or two bottles of our 800ml goat milk, we will pack the milk in a Hay Dairies sturdy Styrofoam cooler box, packed with ice that can last up to 7-8 hours.
There is a used by date printed on the bottle that serves as a guide for consumers on the estimated life span of the milk (averaging around 10 days). The milk must be kept at 4 Degrees Celsius and below to maintain the freshness (with or without opening of the bottle). If your fridge is not cold enough, the milk will turn bad before the used by date indicated on the bottle. The best place to keep the milk is in the chiller box (where you keep your cheese and other dairy products). Please do not place the milk at the door compartment as that area is not cold enough for milk.
